Festival Artistic Directors,
Yaelisa & Jason McGuire:

Location: Irvine Barclay Theatre stage

This performance development master class is designed for the advanced or professional student who wishes to learn and practice the structure and signals necessary to communicate effectively with musicians and other dancers. Using various styles such as Bulerias, Tangos and Soleá, Yaelisa imparts her immense knowledge of cante and baile with participants onstage at the Barclay. This session is free and open to the public for observation. Participation is limited to advanced students enrolled in other advanced Festival workshops, or by invitation.

Guitar and Cante Workshops:

Interest in music workshops has grown, and this year the Festival is pleased to offer a larger selection of master classes with its renowned artists. The content and level of each of our music classes is left to the discretion of the instructor, each of whom will tailor their sessions based upon the desires and needs of the group. For example, it is not necessary to be a singer to attend a Cante class; more and more dancers, aficionados and others are enjoying participating in a casual setting, asking questions and spending several hours with a great flamenco singer or guitarist in a small group. The guitar master classes have been attended by both professionals and beginners; therefore we have only designated student levels for the music classes when requested by the instructor.
